Continuity task: filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room, sitting down in a chair opposite another character with whom she/he exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180% rule.
In my group of four people we created a short film about a man who
takes an old object of his to a television show in which antiques appraiser values the historic object. In
our film the antiques appraiser was played by Tom Richards and the man seeking
information was played by Alistair, whilst myself and Franchesca worked with
the camera.
It was a simple movie with a basic conversation between both
characters sat opposite each other. The shoot began with a wide establishing shot, where we
panned across from the right to left, showing Alistair entering the scene.
We had difficulty filming this, as we did not initially use a tripod, therefore it was initially done hand held. After this we decided to do a few reaction shots and close up of the object. We later realised that it was important to use a tripod therefore began to use one.
